Sgoil-shamhraidh

Presenters: Gilleasbuig MacFhearghais (Gilleasbuig Ferguson), Eilidh NicFhraing (Eilidh Rankin)

[IAIN] Madainn mhath. Sgoil Eòlais Leòdhais. Iain Moireasdan a' bruidhinn.

[LISA] Madainn mhath. Seo Lisa NicThòmais. Tha mi a' bruidhinn à Birmingham. Tha mi airson faighinn a-mach mun sgoil shamhraidh agaibh.

[IAIN] Glè mhath.

[LISA] Dè seòrsa rud a tha a' dol ann?

[IAIN] Uill, bidh clasaichean ann a h-uile latha airson luchd-ionnsachaidh na Gàidhlig agus tha iad air an tabhann aig diofar ìrean, a rèir dè cho math agus a tha sibh anns a' Ghàidhlig mar-thà.

[LISA] Agus dè bhios a' tachairt air an fheasgar?

[IAIN] Uill, air an fheasgar tha clasaichean ciùil againn. Tha seinneadairean agus luchd-ciùil ainmeil an-còmhnaidh againn airson na clasaichean sin a theagasg. Faodaidh sibh seinn, fidheall no pìob a thaghadh airson sin. No faodaidh sibh dannsa a dhèanamh mas e sin a b' fheàrr leibh.

[LISA] A bheil dad eile agaibh air an fheasgar a bharrachd air ceòl?

[IAIN] Oh, tha. Tha gu dearbh. Tha cladaichean brèagha againn an seo. Faodaidh sibh snàmh anns a' mhuir, no seòladh ann am bàt'-iasgaich, no faodaidh sibh a dhol a-mach a' coiseachd air a' mhonadh, mas e sin as fheàrr leibh.

[LISA] Glè mhath. Agus dè mu dheidhinn àiteachan fuirich?

[IAIN] Uill, a-rithist tha taghadh agaibh. Tha taighean-òsta againn a tha math dharìribh. Ach ma tha sibh ag iarraidh rudeigin nas saoire, tha liosta againn de thaighean a tha a' dèanamh "leabaidh is bracaist". Tha ostail òigridh ann cuideachd, no faodaidh sibh campachadh.

[LISA] Glè mhath. Agus dè a' phrìs a th' air an sgoil?

[IAIN] Uill, feumaidh sibh fhèin àite-fuirich a chur air dòigh, ach gheibh sibh na clasaichean gu lèir airson dìreach £150 gach seachdain. Tha sinn a' cumail nam prìsean cho ìosal 's a ghabhas gus am bi cothrom aig a h-uile duine a thighinn ann, gu h-àraid daoine òga mar sibh fhèin. An cuir mi thugaibh bileag fiosrachaidh agus foirm clàraidh, ma-thà?

[LISA] Seadh. Bidh sin math.

[IAIN] Glè mhath, Lisa. Dè an seòladh a th' agaibh?

[LISA] Tha mi a' fuireach aig 275 New Street.

[IAIN] 275 New Street, Birmingham, Sasainn. A bheil sin ceart?

[LISA] Tha mi duilich, chan eil. Tha mi a' fuireach ann am Birmingham, Alabama, sna Stàitean Aonaichte.

[IAIN] O, 's ann à Ameireaga a tha sibh a' fònadh. Glè mhath. Bidh Ameireaganaich gu leòr a' tighinn a h-uile bliadhna. Ach feumaidh mi aon rud a ràdh. Leis mar nach eil sibhse a' fuireach anns an Aonadh Eòrpach feumaidh sinn prìs beagan nas àirde iarraidh bhuaibh. Bidh an sgoil a' cosg £300 an àite £150. Tha sinn an dòchas gum bi sin ceart gu leòr. Nis aon rud eile. Dè an àireamh fòn a th' agaibh?

[LISA] O, tha sin ceart gu leòr. Cuiridh mi fhìn fòn thugaibhse. Mòran taing. Mar sin leibh.

Presenters: Gilleasbuig MacFhearghais (Gilleasbuig Ferguson), Eilidh NicFhraing (Eilidh Rankin)

[JOHN] Good morning. Lewis School of Studies. John Morrison speaking.

[LISA] Good morning. This is Lisa Thomson. I'm speaking from Birmingham. I want to find out about your summer school.

[JOHN] Excellent.

[LISA] What kinds of activities do you have going on?

[JOHN] Well, there are classes every day for Gaelic learners and they are offered at different levels, depending on how good your Gaelic is already.

[LISA] And what happens in the evenings?

[JOHN] Well, in the evening we have music classes. We always have well-known singers and musicians to teach those classes. You can choose singing, fiddle or piping for those. Or you can choose dancing if you'd prefer that.

[LISA] Do you have anything in the evening besides music?

[JOHN] Oh, yes. Yes, indeed. We have beautiful beaches here. You can swim in the sea, go sailing on a fishing boat or you can go out and walk on the moors if that's what you'd prefer.

[LISA] Excellent. And what about accommodation?

[JOHN] Well, again, you have a choice. We have many fine hotels. But if you'd like something a bit cheaper, we have a list of houses that do "bed and breakfast". There's also a youth hostel or you can camp.

[LISA] Excellent. And how much does the school cost?

[JOHN] Well, you have to organise your own accommodation, but you get all the classes for just £150 per week. We keep the prices as low as possible to give everyone the opportunity to come along, especially young people like yourself. Shall I send you an information sheet and registration form, then?

[LISA] Yes. That would be great.

[JOHN] Excellent, Lisa. What's your address?

[LISA] I live at 275 New Street.

[JOHN] 275 New Street, Birmingham, England. Is that right?

[LISA] No, it's not, I'm afraid. I live in Birmingham, Alabama, in the United States.

[JOHN] Oh, you're phoning from America. Great. Lots of Americans come here every year. But I must say one thing. Because you don't live within the European Union we have to charge you a higher price. The school costs £300 rather than £150. We hope that will be OK. Now, one more thing. What's your phone number?

[LISA] Oh, that's all right. I'll call you. Thank you. Goodbye.
