Fèis na Taigeise shoirbheachail eile

Gaelic Gàidhlig

[Angela NicIlleathain – Preseantair] Tha i aithnichte mar bhiadh cho Albannach ‘s a th’ ann agus chaidh a taisbeanadh ann an Drochaid an Aonaichean mar rud a ghabhas a bhruich ann an iomadach dòigh. air a tha mi a-mach? Tha an taigeis. Chaidh an dàrna fèis taigeis a chumail anns a’ bhaile aig deireadh na seachdain. Chaidh Andreas Wolff ann dhuinn.

[Andreas Wolff – Neach-aithris] Bha pàirt chudromach aig Eachainn Taigeis ann am fosgladh Fèis Taigeis na bliadhna-sa ann an Drochaid an Aonachain. Chaidh a chumail airson an dàrna uair a-mhàin.

[Dougie Beck] Thàinig e steach oirnn nach robh fèis ann an àite sam bith anns an t-saoghal a bha a’ comharrachadh na taigeis agus chuir sin iongnadh mòr oirnn. Tha fèisean ann airson pìobaireachd, breacan, a h-uile sìon a tha ceangailte ri Alba ach cha robh dad ann airson na taigeis.

[Andreas Wolff – Neach-aithris] Fhuair iad airgead bhon Chrannchur Nàiseanta gus a dhèanamh nas motha am-bliadhna. Bha cothrom aig daoine coimhead air còcairean proifeiseanta a’ deasachadh taigeis.

[Scott Kelly] Once you’ve tasted the Haggis, which you have to do right to start with, to understand what butcher has put spices and everything in it, than you decide what would help bring it out even further. Whether the highlights of the liver etc in the haggis, you want to enhance that more and use a deep red sauce or even down to adding a little bit of chocolate to a sauce to sweeten it up.

[Andreas Wolff – Neach-aithris] Agus bha diofar thachartasan a’ dol do chloinn agus inbhich.

[Dougie Beck] Bha cothrom aig clann na sgìre agus inbhich cuideachd, mas e ‘s gu robh iad airson beagan taic a thoirt dhan chloinn , taigeisean a lorg. Tha sinn air na taigeisean, tha sinn air am falach ann am bùithtean, ri taobh nan rathaidean, fiù ‘s nan taighean air feadh an àite.

[Andreas Wolff – Neach-aithris] B’e buidheann de luchd-gnothachais san sgìre a chuir an fhèis air dòigh gus barrachd luchd-turais a thàladh aig àm nuair a tha cùisean fhathast caran sàmhach. Agus fhuair na bha an làthair cothrom diofar sheòrsaichean de thaigeis fheuchainn.

[Fireannach 1] For me it’s yellow, nice and chunky, it’s a got a but of spice in there, your kinda classic haggis that you get from the supermarket cabinet now.

[Andreas Wolff – Neach-aithris] Ach mu dheidhinn daoine nach eil eòlach air taigeis?

[Scott Kelly] When they ask you the question: “What is a Haggis?” You’ve always got to answer, I’ll tell you after you’ve eaten it, i.e. if you’ve enjoyed it, then it doesn’t matter what’s in it.

[Andreas Wolff – Neach-aithris] Bha fuineadair an làthair cuideachd, ‘s e a' sealltainn do dhaoine mar a tha esan a’ cur taigeis ann an lofa. Thathar an dòchas an fhèis seo a chumail a h-uile bliadhna bho seo a-mach. Andreas Wolff, BBC An Là, Drochaid an Aonachain.

Another successful Haggis Festival

English Beurla

[Angela Maclean – Presenter] It’s as Scottish a food and as there is and it was presented in Spean Bridge cooked in many ways. What am I on about? The haggis. The second haggis festival was held in the town at the weekend. Andreas Wolff went there for us.

[Andreas Wolff – Reporter] Hector the Haggis had an important part to play at the opening of this year’s Haggis Festival in Spean Bridge. It’s being held there for only the second time.

[Dougie Beck] It occurred to us that there wasn’t a festival, anywhere in the world, that celebrated the haggis and this surprised us greatly. There are festivals for piping, trout, everything really related to Scotland but there wasn’t anything for the haggis.

[Andreas Wolff – Reporter] They received funding from The National Lottery to expand it this year. People were given the opportunity to watch professional chefs preparing haggis.

[Andreas Wolff – Reporter] And there were different events taking place for children and adults.

[Dougie Beck] The children in the area, and adults too if they wanted to help their children, had the chance to do a haggis hunt. We’ve hid haggis in shops, by the side of the road even in houses, all over the place.

[Andreas Wolff] The festival was set up by a group of business people in the area to attract more tourists during the quiet season. Those present had the chance to try different types of haggis.

[Male 1] For me it’s yellow, nice and chunky, it’s a got a but of spice in there, your kinda classic haggis that you get from the supermarket cabinet now.

[Andreas Wolff – Reporter] But what about those who are unfamiliar with haggis?

[Scott Kelly] When they ask you the question: “What is a Haggis?” You’ve always got to answer, I’ll tell you after you’ve eaten it, i.e. if you’ve enjoyed it, then it doesn’t matter what’s in it.

[Andreas Wolff – Reporter] There was a baker present too, showing people how he bakes haggis loaves. They hope to hold this festival every year from now on. Andreas Wolff, BBC An Là, Spean Bridge.
