[Iain Macaonghais – Preseantair] Nise tha baile Pheairt air tagradh oifigeil a chur a-steach an-diugh airson inbhe Cathair-baile Chultarail Bhreatainn airson 2021. Bha tachartasan sa bhaile tron latha an-diugh agus a' Chomhairle ag ràdh gum faigheadh turasachd agus an eaconamaidh san fharsaingeachd buannachd mhòr ma shoirbhicheas leotha. Tha Seonaidh MacCoinnich air a bhith a tadhal an-diugh air a’ bhaile.

[Seonaidh MacCoinnich – Neach-aithris] Bha diofar thachartasan air feadh Pheairt an-diugh, le dannsairean flash mob agus an còmhlan Red Hot Chilli Pipers. Bha seo mar phàirt de dh’ iomairt feuch am faigh iad Baile Chultarail Bhreatainn son a’ bhliadhna 2021.

[Aileen Ogilvie] Uill tha Peairt aig cridhe Alba agus aig cridhe sgeulachd na h-Alba. Tha Baile-mòr Peairt làn pearsantachd, leis gu bheil Peairt ann am meadhan Alba ’s e àite sònraichte a th’ann airson coinneachadh. ’S e Peairt agus Siorrachd Pheairt an t-àite airson tachartasan ciùil beothail, fèisean, ealain, mòran taighean-bidhe, àitichean fosgailte mar pàircean, tòrr bùithtean spòrs, eachdraidh inntinneach agus dualchas beairteach. ‘S e Peairt an t-àite.

[Dollag Wallace] Am baile as brèagha ann an Alba. Seo am baile as sine ann an Alba. Còmhla ri sin ’s e a’ chiad phrìomh-bhaile a bh’ ann an Alba cuideachd, mus tàinig Dùn Èideann. Cha robh sgeul air aig an àm sin, teantaichean beaga an siud ’s an seo. Bha Peairt na phrìomh-bhaile air Alba.

[Seonaidh MacCoinnich – Neach-aithris] Agus ma bhios iad soirbheachail, dè bhios e a’ ciallachadh do mhuinntir na sgìre?

[Dollag Wallace] Dhèanadh e feum do Pheairt, dhèanadh. Bheireadh e tuilleadh sluaigh a-staigh, uill tha sluagh gu leòr a’ fuireach ann ach bheireadh e luchd-turais gu leòr a Pheairt. Bheireadh sin ann iad.

[Aileen Ogilvie] Fosglaidh e cothroman cultarach ùr anns an sgìre airson a h-uile duine. Cathair Pheairt agus Siorrachd Pheairt cuideachd. Chì sinn buannachdan eacanomaigeach, bidh mòran dhaoine agus luchd-turais a’ tadhal air a’ bhaile mhòr agus mairidh seo fad ùine mhòr.

[Seonaidh MacCoinnich – Neach-aithris] Bidh an tagradh a’ tòiseachadh san Fhaoilleach agus bidh fios cò a bhuannaicheas ro dheireadh na bliadhna. Ach a rèir brath naidheachd bho William Hill bookmakers an-diugh, ’s e as coltaiche airson an tiotal fhaighinn aig 3-1. Seonaidh MacCoinnich, BBC An Là, Peairt.

Perth aims to become UK City of Culture

English Beurla

[Iain Macinnes – Presenter] Now the City of Perth has today put in an official bid for the title of UK City of Culture for 2021. There were events throughout the day today, with the council stating that it would provide tourism and the economy in general with a great boost if they were successful. Seonaidh MacKenzie has been visiting the town today.

[Seonaidh MacKenzie – Reporter] There were different events across Perth today, with flash mob dancers and the band Red Hot Chilli Pipers. This was part of a campaign for the UK City of Culture for the year 2021.

[Aileen Ogilvie] Well Perth is at the heart of Scotland and at the heart of the story of Scotland. The City of Perth is full of character, with it being in the middle of Scotland it’s a great place to meet. Perth and Perthshire is the place for live music events, festivals, arts, it has many restaurants, open spaces such as parks, lots of outdoor shops, it has an interesting history and a rich heritage. Perth really is the place.

[Dollag Wallace] The prettiest town in Scotland. This is the oldest town in Scotland. Alongside that it was Scotland’s first capital too, before Edinburgh. Edinburgh wasn’t there then, just a few tents here and there. Perth was the capital of Scotland.

[Seonaidh MacKenzie – Reporter] And if they are to be successful, what does it mean for the people of the area?

[Dollag Wallace] It would benefit Perth, it would. It would bring more people in, well there’s enough people living here but it would plenty tourists to Perth. This would attract them.

[Aileen Ogilvie] It will open up new cultural opportunities for everyone in the area. For the city of Perth and Perthshire also. We’ll see economic advantages, there will be many people and tourists visiting the city and this will continue a long time.

[Seonaidh MacKenzie – Reporter] The bid will begin in January and the winner will be revealed by the end of the year. But according to a press release from William Hill bookmakers today, they are favourites for the title at 3-1. Seonaidh MacKenzie, BBC An Là, Perth.
