[Màiri] Tha mi a’ tòiseachadh le ochd unnsaichean flùir self-raising, rud beag salainn, rud beag piobair agus dà unnsa ime agus dìreach a’ suathadh an ime ’s am flùr a-staigh còmhla, dìreach mar a dhèanadh tu airson sgona sam bith eile.
[Màiri] An lùib sin sin tha mi a’ cur aon chuirseid, an rusg ’s an cuirseid. Dà shlis hama dìreach air a gheàrradh gu math beag agus leth spàin-tì oregano.
[Màiri] Agus a-nis tha ugh agam, aon ugh agus ’s dòcha cairteala p hint bainne, a’ cur còmhla agus dìreach a’ dòrtadh siud a-staigh agus ga chur timcheall le sgian. Dìreach gus am fàs e gu math steigeach. Aithnichidh sibh gu bheil e gus a bhith deiseil. Tha mi a’ creidsinn gu bheil e deiseil a-nis.
[Màiri] Agus rud beag flùir.
[Màiri] Faodadh sibh an dèanamh beag no mòr, ge bith ciamar a tha sibh gan iarraidh ach le bobhla soup tha mi a’ smaoineachadh gu bheil iad a cheart cho math an dèanamh caran mòr. ’S ann mar sin a bhios mise gan dèanamh co-dhiù.
[Màiri] Driùthag bheag ugh air fhàgail ann an seo ’s tha mi dìreach a’ dol ga cur air bàrr nan sgonaichean airson beagan gleans. Seo a-nis. Agus dhan àmhainn a-nis. Nis ’s e àmhainn theth ’s e as fhèarr dà cheud agus fichead agus cùm a-staigh iad ’s dòcha airson deich mionaidean no mar sin.
[Màiri] Nis tha na sgonaichean deiseil agus tha mi toilichte, glè thoilichte leotha ach chan eil mi a’ dol gam feuchainn an-dràsta. Tha mi a’ dol gam fàgail. Mar a thuirt mi, tha iad sgoinneil le bobhla soup airson lunch no dinnear agus ’s e sin a tha mise a’ dol a dhèanamh. Tha mi a’ dol gam fàgail gu feasgar.

[Mairi] I am starting with eight ounces of self-rising flour, a little bit of salt, a little bit of pepper and two ounces of butter and just stir the butter and flour in together, just like you would do for any other scone.
[Mairi] Into that I am adding one courgette, the skin and the courgette. Two slices of ham cut very finely and half a teaspoon of oregano.
[Mairi] And now I have an egg, one egg and perhaps quarter of a pint of milk, add together and just pour that in and mix it around with a knife. Just until it gets very sticky. You will recognise when it is almost ready. I believe that it is ready now.
[Mairi] And a little bit of flour.
[Mairi] You can make them small or big, whatever you want but with a bowl of soup I think that you are just as good making them quite big. I make them like that anyway.
[Mairi] There is a drop of egg left here and I am just going to put it on top of the scones for a little bit of shine. Now then. And into the oven now. Now it is a hot oven of two hundred and twenty and keep them in for tens minutes or around that.
[Mairi] Now the scones are ready and I am happy, very happy with them but I am not going to try them just now. I am going to leave them. Like I said, they are great with a bowl of soup for lunch or dinner and that is what I am going to do. I am going to leave them until the afternoon.
