[Calum] Hello! This week I’ve been thinking about mental health and how important it is to be aware of it especially right now. Sometimes I feel like I have every opportunity, that I can do anything, and in those times my mind is in tune. But on other days, it isn’t so good.
[Calum] I feel weak, kind of trapped in my own head, and lost.
[Calum] And to tell the truth, it was difficult to find the energy to make this video. But I thought to myself – what things have I done to give myself a lift during lockdown?
[Calum] You need to do things that make you feel like yourself again. Although I’d rather be up in the mountains or swimming at a beach, I’ve taken the opportunity to do lots of cycling and running.
[Calum] That’s three, this is hard.
[Calum] And sometimes just walking barefoot on the golf course.
[Calum] As no one’s playing, I won’t get hit by a ball.
[Calum] I haven’t seen my girlfriend for two months and that’s difficult, but we speak every day and I’ve seen my friends more through quizzes than I would usually I’d say.
[Calum] And I know that exercise like that is not for everyone, for some it’s getting lost in a book that helps them. But I think that that connection with other people is extremely important and speaking about how we’re feeling. I remember the first time I did it I wasn’t used to it and it was scary, but it helped me. If I’m having a bad day, I’ll focus on the things I can control. Have I drunk enough? Have I eaten healthy food? Do I need a nap? Simple things which I can control. Speaking of that, I’m going outside!
