Leabhar Gàidhlig ùr air fhoillseachadh mu Mhàiri Stiùbhairt

Gaelic Gàidhlig

[Dòmhnall Angaidh Moireasdan – Preseantair] Nise chaidh leabhar Ghàidhlig ùr fhoillseachadh airson bun-sgoiltean mu bheatha Màiri Stiùbhairt. Nise chan eil càil a-mach às an àbhaist an sin ach gur iad sgoilearan aig Àrd-sgoil Sheumais Ghilleasbuig ann an Dùn Èideann a rinn an leabhar le taic bhon bhuidhinn Alba Aosmhòr. Bha Kerr Gibb an làthair dhuinne nuair a chaidh an leabhar a chur air bhog.

[Kerr Gibb – Neach-aithris] Chaidh cuirm a chumail an-raoir aig Alba Aosmhòr ann an Dùn Èideann gus an leabhar, a th’air a sgrìobhadh agus a dhealbhachadh do sgoilearan bun-sgoile a chur air bhog. ‘S e seo a’ chiad uair a chaidh pròiseact dhe leithid airson sgoilearan àrd-sgoile a chur air dòigh le Alba Aosmhòr.

[Curstaidh NicDhòmhnaill] Uill a h-uile bliadhna bidh sinn ag obair gu math dlùth le Bun-sgoil Taobh na Pàirce agus ag obair còmhla riutha a’ dèanamh sgeama air a bheil Treòraichean Òga Caisteal Dhùn Èideann far a bheil iadsan ag ionnsachadh tro dhràma agus dòighean eile mu dheidhinn Caisteal Dhùn Èideann agus a’ sealltainn dhaoine timcheall air agus mar sin air adhart. Bidh iad a’ dèanamh seo sa Bhun-sgoil agus a’ chlann a chruthaich an leabhar seo, rinn iadsan sin sa Bhun-sgoil agus bha sinn a’ smaoineachadh gum biodh e ‘s dòcha snog rudeigin a dhèanamh fhad ’s a bha iad dol suas na sgoile.

[Kerr Gibb – Neach-aithris] Fhuair na sgoilearan a-mach air an dùthaich gu caistealan gus ionnsachadh mu bheatha nam Banrìghean agus bha iad an sàs tron phròiseas air fad, ag obair còmhla ri Anna NicPheadrais bho Chaisteal Dùn Èideann agus neach-ealain ‘s dealbhadair.

[Morag] Bha e uabhasach math air sgàth thug e cothrom dhuinn ionnsachadh mu dheidhinn eachdraidh na h-Alba.

[Mara] Thug e còmhla ur cànan agus cultar.

[Kerr Gibb – Neach-aithris] Glè mhath agus an e rud tha seo a tha caran a-mach às an àbhaist na bhios sibh a’ dèanamh ann an clasaichean Gàidhlig mar as trice?

[Morag] ‘S ann air sgàth cha bhith sinn a’dèanamh leabhraichean tric.

[Mara] Tha e math gun robh cothrom againn rudeigin a chruthachadh son cuideachadh clann eile tro mheadhan na Gàidhlig.

[Kerr Gibb – Neach-aithris] Agus a bheil sibh toilichte le mar a thàinig an leabhar a-mach? Tha e a’ coimhead gu math snog nach eil?

[Mara] Tha, tha e a’ coimhead glè mhath.

[Morag] Tha e a’ coimhead uabhasach math.

[Kerr Gibb – Neach-aithris] Agus bho bheachd tidseir, thug e cothrom sònraichte dhaibh an sgilean a chur gu feum ann an dòigh inntinneach.

[Seonaidh Charity] Tha mi smaointinn tha tòrr saorsa againn an-dràsta leis a’ churraicealam agus ‘s e pròiseactan mar seo a tha gu math freagarrach airson leithid a rud agus mholainn gu mòr e oir tha e toirt, mar a thuirt mi, tha e toirt a’ chothroim dhaibh sgilean diofraichte a chleachdadh ann an suidheachadh gu math eadar-dhealaichte agus tha mi smaointinn gu bheil iad a’ faicinn an uair sin luach anns na rudan a tha iad a’ dèanamh anns a’ chlas bho gu agus an cothrom aca sin a chur gu feum ann an suidheachadh gu tur eadar-dhealaichte.

[Kerr Gibb – Neach-aithris] Tha Alba Aosmhòr air copaidhean den leabhar a sgaoileadh ris a h-uile Bun-sgoil ann an Alba a tha a’ teagaisg na Gàidhlig agus iad an dòchas gum bi iad uile feumail dhaibh agus tarraingeach do sgoilearan. Kerr Gibb, BBC An La, Dùn Èideann.

A new Gaelic book published about Mary Queen of Scots

English Beurla

[Donald Angie Morrison – Presenter] A new Gaelic book on Mary Queen of Scots for primary schools was published. Nothing out of the ordinary there except that it was produced by pupils at James Gillespie’s High School in Edinburgh with help from Historic Scotland. Kerr Gibb was there when the book was launched.

[Kerr Gibb – Reporter] An event was held last night at Historic Scotland in Edinburgh to launch the book that was written and designed for primary school pupils. This is the first project of its kind for secondary school pupils to produce with Historic Scotland has set up.

[Kirsty MacDonald] Well each year we work quite closely with Parkside Primary School on a scheme called Edinburgh Castle Young Guides where they learn through drama and other ways about Edinburgh Castle and show people around. They do this in primary school and the children who created this book, they did it in primary school and we thought it would be nice perhaps to do something when they progress to high school.

[Kerr Gibb – Reporter] The pupils got out in the country to castles to learn about the life of the Queens and they were involved in the entire process, working with Ann Paterson from Edinburgh Castle and the artist and designer.

[Morag] It was really good because it gave us a chance to learn about Scotland’s history.

[Mara] It brought together our language and culture.

[Kerr Gibb – Reporter] Very good and is this quite an unusual thing for you to do in comparison to what you normally do in Gaelic classes?

[Morag] It is because we don’t make books often.

[Mara] It’s good that we had a chance to create something to help other children going through Gaelic medium education.

[Kerr Gibb – Reporter] And are you happy with how the book turned out? It looks very nice doesn’t it?

[Mara] Yes, it looks quite good.

[Morag] It looks really good.

[Kerr Gibb – Reporter] And from a teacher’s point of view, it gave them a unique opportunity to utilise their skills in an interesting way.

[Seonaidh Charity] We have lots of freedom right now I think with the curriculum and it’s projects such as this that lend themselves to such things and I would recommend it hugely because, as I said, it gives them the opportunity to use different skills in a different situation and I think they see the benefits of the things they do in class day to day and they have the chance to put them to use in a totally different situation.

[Kerr Gibb – Reporter] Historic Scotland have sent copies of the book to every primary school in Scotland which teach Gaelic in the hope they will prove useful and attractive to pupils. Kerr Gibb, BBC An Là, Edinburgh.
